Peebles

The busy yet picturesque town on the banks of the River Tweed has much to offer the visitor.

Glorious Borders countryside, individual and interesting high street shops, delightful places to eat, historic attractions and many activities and events throughout the year.

Peebles is a place in which the locals take for granted an enviable lifestyle with wonderful amenities, all of which we are proud to share with our visitors.

Whether you are here for just a few days or even a week or two, you'll find plenty to take up your time in Peebles and further afield in the borders should you want to. The town is the ideal location for those wanting a lazy and relaxing vacation, as well as those seeking an energetic and activity filled holiday.

Be it a walk in one of our lovely parks by the banks of the Tweed; or a round of golf in one of the areas many courses; be it several happy hours shopping in our bustling high street; or sampling for yourself the best of local borders produce at our many hotels and restaurants; you will find that the town lives up to its motto Peebles for pleasure.

The Borders

Between the borders of England and Edinburgh lies an area which is almost unknown to the mass tourists. This unspoilt region is called the Borders. Here within a small area are spectacular peaks and hills, forests, wooded valleys, moorland, mountain streams and the majestic River Tweed.

The area is steeped in history and the hills ring out with the cries of the past, with many castles, stately homes, battle fields and gardens, any of which will give the visitor insight into the background of the people.

If the visitor travels to the east of the district, then the breathtaking views of the sea and cliffs at St. Abbs head are well worth a visit.

Edinburgh is only 20 miles from Peebles and as the capital city of Scotland, offers art galleries, cinemas and theatres, plus the spectacles of Holyrood Palace and Edinburgh Castle.
